Don't give up on Extreme Pumice Running, The Movie. Sure, there's been a few post production delays - the writer's strike and all that - but this film is too big, too much of a cinematic landmark, too important of a statement on our society and it's place in history... Anyway just stay with me a bit longer.) November 3, 2007 - Romantic RidgeDoug came up with the name - and, no, this has nothing to do with Brokeback Mtn. (Note. Extreme Pumice Running, The Movie is still in production. There's been a minor delay while negotiating terms with Warren Miller. Look for it on a Saturday Morning Run website near you soon.) April 21, 2007 - Stage 16Stage 16 is an amazing little trail that winds up the mountain, sometimes following a creek past pools and waterfalls, and sometimes running through meadows and forest. Of all the Saturday runners with many hundreds of person years exploring the mountain between us, not one had ever run across this gem until Jeff and Doug made the discovery a few weeks ago and then Jeff found the upper and lower sections last week. Come have a look with us on Saturday. April 14, 2007 - Ben Johnson TrailApril 7, 2007 - Audubon Canyon in Nesting Season

March 24, 2007 - Plane Crash Site
On November 30, 1944 a military PBM aircraft, also known as a flying boat, crashed into the south side of Mt. Tamalpais. The pilot and all eight passengers died in the crash. The following excerpts are from the crash report.
...experienced engine trouble when about over the Golden Gate Bridge, made a wide turn to the right, and in the resultant confusion naturally did not keep a sharp, continuous lookout; forward vision also being hindered by the darkness and rain conditions. Just prior to the accident the aircraft flew over a ridge one-half mile from the scene of the crash and it is believed knocked down a telephone pole and broke electric wires. However, the pilot maintained control of the aircraft as the plane crashed into the mountain in a level altitude and at the same altitude as the electric wires…
The full crash report is here. Specifications for the airplane are here.
